President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Adeel Rauf has expressed optimism that the winners of Sarhad Chamber's Businessmen of the Year Gold Medal and Export Trophy Award would help prove guarantee in bringing stability in the national economy.

Talking to a group of newsmen here in his office at Sarhad Chamber on Monday, he said that the winning of the award would not only strengthened their business position, but the confidence of foreign investors and traders would also be restored in them.

"The function would be held every year and those who have failed in winning award or trophy would participate with more vigour next year and the number of the award winners would also be increased," he observed.

He said that the purpose and objective of the SCCI are to provide better business facilities to investors, industrialists and traders adding that for the achievement of these goals, effective measures are being taken to encourage and resolve their problems at the level of the chamber.

In response to a question, he said that the holding of the gold medal and trophies ceremony would bring positive results, saying that the government has also appreciated the initiative of the Sarhad Chamber. He said that their efforts for stability in provincial economy and encouragement of business community would continue.

To another question regarding hurdles in the development of trade and industries in NWFP, Adeel Rauf said that Sarhad Chamber has taken a number of effective measures. However, he said the economic and financial development of this part of the country is impossible without the active support of the government.

"No doubt that business and trade activities in NWFP are nominal as compared to Punjab and Sindh, however, he said it would also be economically developed if federal government ensure the implementation of the recommendations prepared by Sarhad Chamber," he opined.

Replying another query, the SCCI chief informed the newsmen that for the resolution of the problems of businessmen and provision of all possible facilities, Industry & Trade Advisory Cell (ITAC) is working in a better way. Similarly, he said that the standing committees established during his presidentship are also showing better performance, resulting into the resolution of the majority of problems.

He expressed the hope that federal government would announce a special incentive package for the industrialists and small traders to strengthen the fragile economy of this province.
